NRDF exists to support classical dance in the Napa Valley

Story

Napa Regional Dance Company (NRDC) was founded in 1988 with the mission to provide extraordinary classical dance training and education. NRDC instructors have professional backgrounds and have performed with such groups as the American Ballet Theater, Dance Theater of Harlem, Oakland Ballet, Ballet West, and the Joffrey Ballet. NRDC offers a year-round curriculum for boys and girls in classical ballet, contemporary dance, and choreography, in addition to several performance opportunities each year. The annual production of the classical ballet, The Nutcracker, is held during the holiday season, and a year-end student showcase presenting repertoire of classical and contemporary dance works is performed each spring. To inquire about joining Napa Regional Dance Company, please contact the Executive Director, Wanda Martin McGill.

Napa Regional Dance Foundation (NRDF) was formed in 2014 as a non-profit partner with Napa Regional Dance Company with the goal of expanding performance opportunities for young dancers in Napa County. We envision traditional partnerships, such as live musical accompaniment for dance performances, as well as creative artistic pairings with other performing arts groups. NRDF believes in the power of dance education to influence the lives of young dancers. Dance training and music teach countless life lessons — discipline, focus, body awareness, and the delayed gratification of working hard towards a series of goals, ever increasing in intensity. Dancers also learn to share their gifts through performance and, in turn, provide a great gift to our Napa Valley community.

  • Maggie Rice

    Special Projects Manager

Maggie is an advanced ballet student at NRDC. She began her life long love of ballet at a young age in Corpus Christi, Texas where she danced throughout her youth before moving to England to attend boarding school and train in the Royal Academy of Dance method. She continued taking ballet classes while studying English at the University of Georgia and in her post college life at the Ballet Austin community school. Maggie moved to the valley in 2011 to pursue a culinary degree at the CIA Greystone after which she worked as a baker for three years before taking an indefinite hiatus from the professional kitchen to join her boyfriend, Reed, in growing his business. Together they run a small company selling previously owned clothing – primarily menswear – on eBay. She enjoys this new, somewhat unconventional, career that allows her more time to perfect her pliés and pirouettes back in the ballet studio.
